Toei Company Limited, the Japanese entertainment company behind 75 years of films, dramas, and stage productions, has officially stepped into the video game industry. The company recently launched its new gaming brand, Toei Games, and has now announced its first three titles, all of which are brand new, original works with no connection to Toei’s existing properties.
KILLA (Kill the “La”)
KILLA is a 3D adventure mystery game developed by Black Tangerine which features multiple endings. Players follow Valhalla, a young woman on a mission to find the killer of her mentor, someone she considered family. Her search takes her to an unknown island with a dark and eerie atmosphere.

The game is set in a world styled like a nightmarish puppet show, filled with dark and fantastical visuals. Gameplay centers on a “resonance” ability that lets players dive into the memories of suspects and piece together fragments to uncover the truth.
HINO
HINO is a 2D dark fantasy adventure set in a shadow-filled world overrun by monsters. The game is developed by UnGloomStudio and have players guide two characters: Hino, a girl with a red ribbon, and her companion, a quirky white skeleton called Monimoni Skeleton, as they travel through dangerous lands in search of a safe place to call home.

What makes HINO visually distinct is that its world is illustrated using ballpoint pen artwork by Japanese artist Yatara. As players move through the game, they will uncover a single truth behind how this dark world came to be. The story has multiple endings, all shaped by the choices players make along the way.
DEBUG NEPHEMEE
DEBUG NEPHEMEE by Nephemee Studio is a top-down 2D adventure game set in a world called “Nepherum,” where creatures known as Nephemees are infested with bugs. Players work to “debug” the world through a battle system built around each Nephemee’s values and philosophies, attacking and hacking opponents to uncover pieces of their personalities and memories.

The game puts an emphasis on getting to know a wide cast of characters as the player works through this unusual world.
All three games are currently announced for Steam with their pages now available for view. Further platform and release details have not yet been shared. Founded in 1951, Toei has built its reputation across movies, television, and animation. The move into games marks the company’s first entry into the video game market, starting with PC releases on Steam. Toei has also stated plans to bring its titles to home consoles in the future, including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox.
