Toei Company Limited, the Japanese entertainment giant behind decades of movies, television, and animation, has officially announced the launch of its new gaming brand named Toei Games. The first title under Toei Games is set to be announced on Friday, April 24, 2026.
Founded in 1951, Toei has long been known for its wide range of storytelling across different media. Now, 2026 marks the company’s first move into the video game market, starting with PC games on Steam. The company also has plans to eventually bring its titles to home consoles, including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox.

Alongside the announcement, Toei unveiled the official Toei Games brand logo and a special pixel-art animation based on Toei’s iconic “Rough Sea and Waves” (Araiso ni Nami) opening sequence, which has been a recognizable part of the studio’s identity for years.
One of the more notable details about this new venture is that Toei Games will not be building on the company’s existing properties. Instead, the focus is on creating entirely new IPs developed by creators from both Japan and abroad. The goal, as stated by the company, is to “create a new IP that will captivate the world, starting with games.”

Toei describes the gaming business as a new pillar for the company, sitting alongside its traditional areas of movies, television, and events. The move is also tied to the company’s medium- to long-term vision called “TOEI NEW WAVE 2033,” which focuses on bringing Toei’s stories to a global audience. Games, being a format that crosses language and national borders, are seen as a fitting way to pursue that goal.
