In Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley, players take on the role of a hiker who gets caught in a sudden snowstorm while exploring the mountains. After finding shelter with the help of a mysterious voice, the player wakes up to discover a Harvest Sprite trapped under the snow, who explains that every season in the valley has disappeared except winter. To bring the other seasons back, players must work with the villagers, the Harvest Sprites, the Harvest Goddess, and the King of the Underworld. Gameplay includes planting crops, raising animals like cows, chickens, and sheep, and shaping the land to the player’s liking. Players can also build relationships with the Harvest Sprites, the Harvest Goddess, and the Harvest God, get to know the locals, and eventually marry and start a family. Additional content such as outfits, building sets, crops, and characters is available as downloadable content.
Harvest Moon: Skytree Village is set in a once-thriving land known as the Oasis of the Harvest Goddess. The village used to be full of life, but as the Harvest Goddess’s power faded, the land turned dry and empty. Players are tasked with restoring seven Skytrees to help the Harvest Goddess regain her strength and bring the village back to life. The game lets players choose to play as a boy or girl, pursue relationships with the town’s bachelors and bachelorettes, and build a family of their own. It also introduces a new story with a fresh cast of characters, land terraforming options, new crops and flowers, and expanded fishing mechanics that let players widen waterways to catch rarer fish. The village is filled with residents who each have their own personalities. Skytree Village’s downloadable content includes cosmetic items along with two extra characters.
