Square Enix has shared a new round of information on Final Fantasy Resonance, giving fans a closer look at the game’s world, cast, and side content ahead of its release later this year. Digital pre-orders for the Standard and Deluxe Editions are already live on the eShop for both Switch and Switch 2.
Two new locations were shown off in the latest reveal. One is Dilmagia, an industrial city known as the birthplace of airship technology, where the city’s top engineers carry on the title of Cid in honor of the original inventor. The other is Olderion, capital of the Olderion Federation, a nation built around water and watched over by the Maiden of Water along with an esper worshipped as the God of Water.

The party is also growing. Lid, an engineer from Dirnado, fights alongside a mechanical chocobo she built herself called Mechabo, which can be upgraded through side quests. Nichol, a strategist for the Olderion Federation, joins as a tactician focused on defending his home nation. On the antagonist side, the trailer introduced two members of the Sworn Six: Veritas of the Heavens, who fights with wind-based lance attacks, and Veritas of the Waters, a water mage set on destroying the Crystals.
The game will also feature Vision companions tied to past Final Fantasy heroes, with Aileen, Cecil, Bartz, Squall, Zidane, and Tidus confirmed so far. Growing closer to these Visions unlocks new skills, and staggering every enemy in a battle at once triggers a Resonance attack.
Three Espers were shown as well. Ifrit returns with his Hellfire attack, Shiva brings Diamond Dust, and the earth-based Esper Gaia uses Gaia’s Wrath. Final Fantasy Resonance launches October 22, 2026, for Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store. With the release date now just a few months away, more details are likely to surface as Square Enix continues promoting the game.
