Bethesda Game Studios has shared a message outlining what fans can expect from the studio in the coming years, confirming that The Elder Scrolls VI is now the team’s main focus while also giving updates on Fallout, Starfield, and more.
According to the studio, the majority of its team is currently working on The Elder Scrolls VI, which is being called the “primary development focus” right now. Bethesda said Skyrim, which came out 15 years ago, has sold over 65 million copies and still has an active player base today. The studio didn’t give a release window for the new game but said development is going well and that the game is being played internally every day.
Fallout also got several updates. Bethesda confirmed that Fallout 5 is now in pre-production, calling it the franchise’s “long-range destination.” Alongside this, the studio confirmed it has been working on remasters of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, though no release dates were shared. Bethesda also confirmed a rumor that had been circulating, stating that Obsidian Entertainment, the studio behind Fallout: New Vegas, is now working with them on a new Fallout project, though further details were not given.
Both The Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5 are being built using Creation Engine 3, a shared technology platform that Bethesda has been developing since the release of Starfield. The studio said this engine allows multiple teams to work on projects at the same time using shared tools and systems.
Fallout’s current games are also getting more support. Fallout 76 will receive a major expansion next year called Raven Rock, which serves as a prequel story to Fallout 3. Fallout 4, which recently marked its 10 year anniversary, has now sold over 35 million copies. Fallout Shelter also continues to grow, with more than 250 million players to date, and Bethesda confirmed new seasons are planned for the mobile game.

Outside of the games themselves, Bethesda mentioned that an unscripted Fallout Shelter television project is in development with Amazon Studios and Kilter Films. The studio also congratulated the team behind the Fallout television series after Season 2 received 10 Emmy nominations, adding that production on Season 3 is already underway. While there won’t be a traditional Fallout Day broadcast this year, Bethesda said it is planning a bigger celebration in 2027 for the franchise’s 30th anniversary, which will be held in Washington, D.C.

Starfield was also addressed in the update. Bethesda said the game has reached more than 17 million players who have logged almost a billion hours combined. The studio plans to keep expanding the game with new stories and gameplay updates, along with new Starborn content expected next year.
On The Elder Scrolls Online, Bethesda announced that ZeniMax Online Studios will now work more closely with Bethesda Game Studios on the wider Elder Scrolls franchise while continuing to develop new content for the MMO. This comes shortly after the launch of the game’s newest chapter, Season One: Return of the Thieves Guild.
Bethesda closed its message by thanking players for their continued support, stating that the studio is focused on strengthening its teams and technology to support its games for years to come.
