Publisher Annapurna Interactive and developer BlueTwelve Studio have officially confirmed that STRAY is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 on May 28, 2026. The acclaimed feline adventure will be available digitally via the Nintendo eShop at a price of $29.99 (approximately RM 120), bringing one of the most distinctive narrative-driven indie experiences of recent years to Nintendo’s latest platform with technical enhancements tailored for the new hardware.
Originally released in 2022, STRAY quickly became one of the standout indie titles of its generation. Its arrival on the Nintendo Switch 2 represents another milestone in the game’s steady expansion across major gaming platforms.
STRAY Comes to Nintendo Switch 2 With Enhanced Visual Features

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of STRAY introduces several improvements over previous releases. Players can expect upgraded visuals, support for 4K resolution, and a smoother overall frame rate designed to better showcase the game’s atmospheric cybercity environments. These enhancements help elevate the experience while maintaining the artistic identity that defined the original release.
In addition to visual upgrades, the Nintendo Switch 2 edition also introduces mouse control support, offering an alternative input option that may appeal especially to players accustomed to precision navigation on PC platforms.

A physical edition of STRAY for Nintendo Switch 2 will also be released in Japan by Happinet, providing collectors another way to experience the title on the new console.
A Journey Through a Neon-Lit Cybercity

In STRAY, players take control of a lone stray cat separated from its family and trapped inside a mysterious underground cybercity populated by robots and hostile creatures. Presented from a third-person perspective, the game emphasizes exploration, environmental storytelling, puzzle solving, and stealth-based navigation across layered urban environments.
Throughout the journey, the cat forms a partnership with a floating drone companion known as B-12. Together, they work to uncover the secrets of the forgotten city while searching for a path back to the surface. The relationship between the protagonist and B-12 forms the emotional backbone of the experience, complementing the game’s quiet yet effective storytelling approach.

One of STRAY’s defining features is its immersive environmental design. Players interact with the world from a uniquely feline perspective, navigating rooftops, alleyways, ventilation paths, and neon-lit corridors while engaging with both friendly and dangerous robotic inhabitants. The game encourages curiosity and playful experimentation, allowing players to behave exactly as one might expect from a cat exploring unfamiliar territory.
STRAY’s Expanding Platform History

Before arriving on the Nintendo Switch 2, STRAY first launched for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam on July 19, 2022. The game later expanded to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One on August 10, 2023, followed by its release on the original Nintendo Switch on November 19, 2024.
With the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 version delivering upgraded performance and visual fidelity, this release represents what is likely the most technically advanced portable-friendly version of STRAY available to date.

As anticipation builds ahead of its May 28 launch, the arrival of STRAY on the Nintendo Switch 2 gives both returning players and newcomers another opportunity to experience one of the most atmospheric and memorable indie adventures of the past few years in an enhanced form.
