Capcom has officially confirmed that Gogmazios, the colossal oil-covered Elder Dragon from Monster Hunter 4G, is returning in Monster Hunter Wilds. The announcement was made at Paris Games Week 2025, where producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and director Yuya Tokuda discussed the monster’s comeback.

This marks Gogmazios’ first appearance in over a decade, thrilling long-time fans of the franchise. Known for its massive frame and devastating attacks, the creature promises a visually stunning and intense battle. Developers revealed that the updated version will feature larger-scale moves that test both reflexes and tactical awareness.
Armor Orbs and New Battle Mechanics
During the Paris event, Tsujimoto teased a new mechanic involving Armor Orbs which are items that hunters can store and use strategically. “If you save up Armor Orbs, you can use them effectively,” he explained. While full details remain secret, he hinted that these orbs may help counter Gogmazios’ overwhelming attack power.

The system is still under wraps, but Capcom’s goal is clear. They want resource management to play a greater role in the fight. This feature could add a deeper tactical layer that rewards players who plan ahead and time their actions carefully.
Elemental States and Combat Preparation

Gogmazios’ oil-coated body remains key to its design. The creature’s oil changes between solid, liquid, and gas states, affecting both behavior and weaknesses. When hardened, the beast becomes more receptive to fire attacks. When softened, it becomes vulnerable to dragon-element weapons, forcing hunters to adjust tactics mid-battle. Capcom advises players to prepare diverse elemental loadouts to handle these shifts.

The developers promise that this system will make Gogmazios one of the most challenging yet rewarding foes in Monster Hunter Wilds. The fourth free title update launches in December 2025, marking the return of one of the series’ most destructive legends.
