Pearl Abyss has announced that Crimson Desert, its open-world action-adventure game, has crossed 6 million copies sold worldwide and it got there in just 83 days.
The numbers behind that milestone paint a clear picture of how the game performed out of the gate. Crimson Desert sold 2 million copies on its launch day alone, then crossed 5 million in under a month before hitting the 6 million mark shortly after. Pearl Abyss describes this as an unprecedented sales achievement for a Korean-developed single-player game.

“We are sincerely grateful to players around the world for helping Crimson Desert achieve meaningful success in the global market despite being a new IP,” said Jin-young Heo, CEO of Pearl Abyss. “To provide more enjoyable and better experiences, Pearl Abyss will continue moving forward and taking on new challenges.”
What makes this noteworthy is that Crimson Desert is a brand new IP going up against long-running franchises that have dominated the single-player market for years. According to Circana, a U.S. market research firm, Crimson Desert ranked second in year-to-date U.S. video game sales for 2026.

Beyond the sales figures, Forbes noted that the game has held onto its players well after launch, pointing out that it followed a different path compared to many open-world single-player titles that typically see a steep drop-off in sales shortly after release.
Pearl Abyss has also shared a preview of planned updates for Crimson Desert running from June through September this year, and confirmed that DLC is currently in development. The studio has been rolling out quality-of-life updates and patches, drawing on its live service experience from Black Desert, and continues to use its in-house BlackSpace Engine to support the game.
