1047 Games is bringing back its free-to-play portal-based arena shooter with a complete overhaul. SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded will launch on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store on December 17, 2025. The relaunch promises to fuse the best elements of Splitgate and Splitgate 2 while refining gameplay for both veterans and newcomers.
A Classic Arena Shooter, Rebuilt
Design director Josh Watson, formerly of Rocket League, explained that the team rebuilt the game from the ground up. “We’ve been hard at work taking the best of Splitgate 1 and Splitgate 2, removing what didn’t work, and refining what did,” Watson said. The new version emphasizes the arena shooter roots fans love, with no factions, no abilities, and no limits.
1047 Games CEO Ian Proulx highlighted the studio’s community-driven approach. “The community led us back to the arena,” he said, referencing public playtests and transparent sharing of results with players. Feedback shaped the new maps, weapons, and progression system, making the relaunch feel both familiar and fresh.
New Features and Content
SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded includes five new maps and six redesigned arenas. Players will also find three new primary weapons, a new Power Weapon, and dozens of other gameplay improvements. Classic modes such as Team Deathmatch and King of the Hill return, alongside party-focused modes like Gun Game and Shotty Snipers.
The progression and Ranked systems have been overhauled to reward performance in every match. Customizable loadouts let players experiment with playstyles while climbing the ranks. This approach aims to satisfy competitive players without sacrificing casual fun.
Mini-Documentary Celebrates the Journey
Ahead of the relaunch, 1047 Games will release a mini-documentary on December 9, 2025. The short film explores the evolution of the game and the studio’s commitment to the arena genre. It also highlights the critical role of community feedback in shaping the new title.
With SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded, 1047 Games aims to capture the excitement of classic arena shooters while offering modern refinements. Fans can look forward to December 17 for the relaunch across consoles and PC.
