Square Enix announced on April 20 that it has taken legal action against a video content creator who published multiple videos harassing the company’s executives and employees connected to Final Fantasy XIV.
According to the company’s official statement, the videos were posted on an undisclosed video sharing platform and contained content that damaged the reputation of Square Enix and the employees involved. The company was able to identify the user responsible, and by the time the announcement was made, both the videos and the account had already been removed from the platform.

Square Enix said it reached an amicable settlement with the user. As part of the agreement, the user issued an apology, paid an undisclosed amount as compensation, and agreed not to carry out similar actions in the future.
This is not the first time the company has dealt with this kind of situation. Back on March, Square Enix reported a separate harassment case and took legal action against an administrator of a Japanese aggregator news blog called Netoge Sokuho, previously known as “FF14 Sokuho.”
The blog had published articles that damaged the reputation of Square Enix employees. While the latest case did not disclose the account name or specific details of the videos involved, the outcome was largely the same as the Netoge Sokuho case.
