Compile Heart has shared a fresh batch of details for the upcoming Hyperdimension Neptunia Unlimited, giving fans a closer look at the game’s characters, combat system, and story setup ahead of its 2026 release.
Among the returning characters confirmed for the game are the CPU Candidates: Nepgear, Uni, Rom, and Ram. Familiar faces like Histoire, IF, and Compa are also coming back. All of them appear with updated character designs in the newly shared artwork. The 15th anniversary website for the series has also been updated to include new illustrations featuring the CPU Candidates.

One of the bigger changes in Neptunia Unlimited is how combat and exploration work. The goddesses can now fly freely through fully 3D environments, meaning players are no longer stuck to the ground. Both land and sky are open for traversal.
Battles have been built around this new freedom of movement. Fights are designed to be fast-paced and aerial, with players spending most of their time in Goddess-transformed form. The combat system includes dive attacks, vertical mechanics that make use of altitude differences, and End Battles where every Goddess joins in.

The game centers on an apocalyptic threat hitting Gamindustri. After a catastrophic meteor event, Neptune finds herself alone in a white space, guided by a mysterious voice. She is marked with a strange number and gains the ability to “retry,” which lets her loop between endings and new beginnings. Hyperdimension Neptunia Unlimited is set to launch on August 27, 2026, in Japan for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2.
