Capcom made two big announcements for Monster Hunter Wilds at Summer Game Fest 2026, revealing a full paid expansion called Ascendance set to launch in 2027, and confirming that the game is heading to Nintendo Switch 2.
The expansion picks up the story of the Forbidden Lands and takes hunters to a completely new location called the Skybound Eyrie, a zone made up of floating islands suspended high above the ground. According to Capcom, players will be able to travel across these islands using Seikret mounts and glide between the floating ruins scattered throughout the area.
One of the bigger additions coming with Ascendance is the Boost Bracer, a new piece of equipment that adds fresh moves to all 14 weapon types in the game. This includes new attacks, combos, and movement options designed to give hunters more ways to handle harder fights.
Speaking of harder fights, Ascendance will also bring back Master Rank content along with the return of Elder Dragons to the Forbidden Lands. The expansion’s story can be accessed after completing the 7★ Quest “Awaking from a Dream.” Returning monsters confirmed so far include fan-favorite Elder Dragon Kushala Daora, with more to be revealed down the line. A new monster pack was also teased in the trailer, showing off creatures built around aerial coordination.
Monster Hunter Wilds director Takuro Hiraoka and producer Ryozo Tsujimoto shared more details in a 10-minute developer message video released alongside the announcement, walking through the new locale, the Boost Bracer, and what players can expect from the Master Rank content.
