Ironwing Valiant: Record of Astera Brings Valkyria Chronicles Vibes to Mecha Action JRPG Fans

Indie developer Tiger Team has launched the Steam page for their upcoming action RPG, Ironwing Valiant: Record of Astera. The game combines fast-paced mecha combat, JRPG storytelling, and tactical gameplay with real-time and pause mechanics.

Inspired by both Armored Core and Valkyria Chronicles, the game features strategic battles, deep customization, and a war-driven narrative.

What Is Ironwing Valiant: Record of Astera?

Set in the war-torn fantasy world of Euridia, players take on the role of Reinhardt, a young mecha pilot defending the mountain kingdom of Astera from the invading Gundrian Empire. The game draws inspiration from Chinese and Korean mythology, including the classic Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

Ironwing Valiant features painterly visuals with Ghibli-style countryside and war-scarred environments. Notable locations include:

• The Fortress City of Suhl

• Sixteen Heavenly Peaks of the Lonely Mountains

• The industrial city of Voclau

Combat and Customization Features

The game features deep mecha customization, allowing players to fine-tune their “Valiants” with interchangeable parts such as:

• Head, Arms, Legs, and Core

• Power packs and auxiliary components

• Melee and ranged weapons like cannons, swords, axes, and missile launchers

Combat is real-time but can be paused to issue commands, offering both speed and strategy. Players can choose between two combat styles: airborne assault or ground-based tactics.

Companions and Party Dynamics

You won’t be fighting alone. Players can bring up to three customizable companions into battle. Each ally has unique skills, and by fighting together, you unlock stronger bonds and battlefield synergy.
