Doom Co-Creator John Romero to Headline gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show 2026

Gaming legend John Romero, co-founder of id Software and co-creator of Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein 3D, will headline the business area conference at gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show this October in Bangkok. Romero will deliver a keynote titled “Why We Still Make Games,” where he will look back on his decades in the industry, the setbacks he faced, and how the games business has changed over the years.

This year’s event also marks the show’s biggest expansion since it launched. The entertainment area will grow to four halls for the first time, pushing the total event space past 35,000 square meters. That is a 20 percent increase from last year’s debut edition, which brought in 206,159 attendees from 95 countries and featured 294 exhibitors.

Fans can expect new game and product showcases from Platinum Sponsor Synnex-Nintendo, along with other big names like AMD, Bandai Namco Entertainment, CAPCOM, SANDISK, SEGA and The Pokemon Company. On the business side, more than 70 speakers from over 20 countries will take part across four stages, including representatives from Roblox, Tencent, Rovio Entertainment and Gameloft.

The show will also welcome ACE Bangkok, a new pop culture platform covering anime, manga, comics, film and fandom, which will be part of the event for the first time. Other additions include a pitch competition for indie developers from around the world, the return of the Invest Circle and VIP Mixer for networking between developers, publishers and investors, and the Thailand Game Talent Showcase, which puts a spotlight on games made by student teams in Thailand.

gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show will run from October 29 to November 1, 2026, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok. The business area will be open to industry professionals and media on October 29 and 30, while the entertainment area opens to the public from October 30 to November 1.
