Kepler Interactive and Sandfall Interactive announced that their turn-based RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has now sold over five million copies worldwide. To celebrate this milestone, the team revealed a free major update is on the way. It will add new environments, gameplay features, and customisation options as a thank-you to players who supported the game.
A Free Update Full of New Adventures

The upcoming update introduces a new environment filled with fresh enemies, hidden areas, and surprises. Players can also look forward to new boss battles designed for late-game adventurers seeking tougher challenges. Each member of the Expedition will gain new costumes, offering more room for personal flair throughout the journey.
Accessibility is also improving with additional language support. The update adds Czech, Ukrainian, Latin American Spanish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai, and Indonesian, raising the total number of supported languages to nineteen. Sandfall Interactive teased that more surprises are planned, encouraging fans to stay tuned.
A Monumental Success Story

Since its launch on 24 April for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has grown rapidly in popularity. Its inclusion on Game Pass helped fuel that momentum. The game sold 500,000 copies on day one, one million within three days, and two million in under two weeks. By day 33, it had already reached 3.3 million units. Another 1.7 million sales have since pushed it past the five million mark.
Creative director Guillaume Broche said the response has been overwhelming. He explained that the team spent years building their dream project and were deeply moved by the players’ passion. Broche thanked fans for their fan art, music covers, and cosplay, adding that the upcoming update serves as a gesture of gratitude to everyone who embraced the game.
A Soundtrack That Struck a Chord

The game’s soundtrack, composed by Lorien Testard, has also achieved major success. It surpassed 333 million streams across digital platforms and spent more than ten weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Classical & Classical Crossover Album charts. It also topped iTunes’ Top 100 Albums Chart in nine countries, including France. The emotional score has become a key part of Expedition 33, amplifying its story and atmosphere.
Looking Ahead

With a major update in development, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 continues to build on its momentum. Its emotional storytelling, artistic visuals, and innovative combat have made it one of 2025’s standout RPGs. Sandfall Interactive’s ongoing support ensures the world of Expedition 33 will continue to grow — and fans will soon have even more reasons to return to its hauntingly beautiful world.
