SNK has officially unveiled the gameplay trailer for Joe Higashi, confirming his arrival as a DLC fighter in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves later this Fall.
Joe enters as part of Season Pass 1, marking his first playable appearance since 1999’s Fatal Fury: Wild Ambition. His return brings back one of the franchise’s most iconic faces, ensuring both veterans and newcomers can experience his Muay Thai mastery.
The Return of the “Summoner of Storms”

Joe first debuted in the original Fatal Fury alongside Terry and Andy Bogard. Over the years, his lightning-fast kicks and signature Muay Thai style have made him one of the series’ defining characters. Known as the “Summoner of Storms,” Joe’s moveset continues to highlight the franchise’s fast-paced, high-energy combat.
A Story Beyond the Arena
Joe’s comeback is not limited to the ring. He stars in The Legend of Joe, a biopic directed by Cheng Sinzan, which ties directly into his in-game narrative. His student, Preecha, who has recently achieved her own tournament success, also plays a role in Joe’s story.

In Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, his Arcade Mode journey follows the filming of the movie, blending martial arts with cinema. Additionally, Episodes of South Town (EOST) explores Joe’s past, particularly his mentorship of Preecha, while giving players fresh perspectives on South Town’s world.
About Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves
The Fatal Fury franchise began in 1991 on the Neo Geo, eventually spawning classics like Garou: Mark of the Wolves. This latest installment pushes the series forward with the REV System, which introduces aggressive new mechanics. Players can unleash REV Arts, REV Accel, and REV Blows for offensive pressure. However, overusing them risks overheating the REV Meter, forcing players to balance risk and reward.

To make the game more approachable, two control styles are available. Arcade Style supports precise technical inputs, while Smart Style simplifies commands for newcomers who still want to enjoy flashy combos. The game features 22 fighters at launch, including 17 returning and brand-new characters. Season Pass 1 will add five more, with Joe Higashi as one of the highlights.
More Than Just Fights

Alongside traditional modes, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves includes Episodes of South Town, a single-player RPG adventure. Players gain experience and rewards by completing battles under unique conditions. As characters level up, they unlock new abilities, adding depth to the experience.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Find out more about Joe Higashi on the game’s official website.
