Blizzard has revealed a new in-game event for Overwatch 2, but this one comes with a twist. The upcoming Neon Pulse Music Festival will only be available to players in China, leaving global fans with mixed feelings.
Season 18’s Busy Schedule

Overwatch 2 is currently in its eighteenth season, which kicked off nearly a month ago. The season introduced the new support hero Wuyang, expanding the roster once again. It also launched a collaboration with NBA superstar Luka Dončić, letting players earn 77 loot boxes through in-game challenges. With Season 18 already packed, the new festival adds even more excitement for Chinese players.
Neon Pulse Music Festival Details

The Neon Pulse Music Festival goes live on September 24 in the Chinese version of the game. The highlight of the event is a rhythm mini-game called “Rhythmwatch,” briefly teased in the official trailer. Alongside this, players will gain access to a festival pass and five themed skins for Ashe, Juno, Mercy, Pharah, and Sombra. Each skin features a neon music festival design that sets them apart from other cosmetic collections.
Limited Global Availability

While the event itself is exclusive to China, Blizzard confirmed that the five festival skins will be sold worldwide, likely as store bundles. However, the rhythm mini-game and other festival pass rewards will remain unavailable to international players. This decision has caused frustration in the community, with many hoping Blizzard eventually brings the full event to all regions. For now, players outside China will need to wait until September 24 to see what bundles include beyond the skins.
Overwatch 2 Collaborations

This isn’t the first time Blizzard has brought music to Overwatch 2. In 2023, the game collaborated with K-pop group LE SSERAFIM, offering hero skins based on the band’s members. The partnership continued into 2024 with new cosmetics for Mercy, Juno, Ashe, Illari, and D.Va. Beyond music, 2025 has seen collaborations with G.I. Joe, Street Fighter 6, NERF, and even Persona 5’s Phantom Thieves, which remains active until September 29.
Looking Ahead For Overwatch 2
Despite missing out on the full Neon Pulse event, players worldwide still have plenty to enjoy. The Overwatch Anniversary 2025 event is live until October 13, bringing back classic modes and weekly content. After that, Season 19 will begin on October 14, with Blizzard expected to share new details soon.
