The story follows Reid Hershel and his childhood friend Farah Oersted, two residents of the remote Inferian village of Rasheans. Their lives change when they encounter a mysterious girl named Meredy. As they set out to learn more about her origins, they uncover a looming threat called the “Great Fall,” a collision event that puts both worlds of Inferia and Celestia at risk. To stop it, Reid and his companions work with elemental spirits known as Greater Craymels in a journey to save both realms.
On the gameplay side, the remaster keeps the original’s Aggressive Linear Motion Battle System, also known as A-LMBS. The system supports a variety of special moves called Artes, continuous combos, and party-based coordination, all delivered through fast-paced 2D combat.

The remaster also brings several quality-of-life updates to make the experience more accessible. These include destination markers to help with navigation, an option to turn off random enemy encounters, and a high-speed mode during auto-battle. Players can also switch between the remastered and original graphics and sound modes, giving both newcomers and returning fans the option to play the way they prefer.
Tales of Eternia Remastered marks the first time the title has received a remaster since its original release, giving players a fresh way to revisit or experience the game for the first time ahead of its October launch.
