Sonic is getting into the holiday mood with a free Christmas DLC update for Sonic Superstars.

The DLC, available now, celebrates Christmas by giving Sonic a Santa costume in Sonic Superstars, complete with red coat to go with his festive hat.

Unfortunately it looks like the blue blur is the only one getting into the holiday spirit as other characters don’t seem to have their own Santa outfits.

To activate it, all you have to do is select the costume at the Character Selection screen.

This isn’t unlike last year’s festive update for Sonic Frontiers- a game which also saw plenty of additional costumes for everyone’s favorite hedgehog.

Sonic Superstars is the latest title featuring SEGA’s iconic mascot, released earlier this year.

The game sports 4-player co-op, with playable characters Amy, Knuckles and Tails alongside Sonic, as well as a return to the 2D platforming focus that kickstarted the whole series.

SEGA has had a good run of luck IP-wise in recent years: between a successful revival of Sonic The Hedgehog, the mainstream popularity of Like A Dragon and the continued success of the Persona series, the publisher even decided to explore bringing back many of its other franchises.

They did this with a short trailer at The Game Awards 2023 which saw announcements for multiple titles like Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi, though no release date has been given for any of those titles.
