Pearl Abyss has shared its Q2 earnings for 2026, revealing that Crimson Desert has sold a staggering 2.11M copies. However, according to the South Korean developers, the recorded revenue was ‘weaker’ than in Q1 because the huge launch boost had faded.
Despite that, they shared that the open-world RPG continues to sell well and that the team has been developing the much-awaited DLC slated to release later this year, with details regarding the content itself, pricing, and possible launch date to be revealed by the third quarter.
The earnings report also revealed Pearl Abyss’s interest in bringing multiplayer into the open-world RPG. “Given Crimson Desert’s dynamic action combat and expansive open-world structure, there is significant potential for expansion into multiplayer modes,” the devs stated.
They proceeded to say that they’re currently extensively researching from both a technical and gameplay standpoint, sharing that integrating multiplayer functionality is far more complex.
Good news was revealed for Switch 2 players as well, as the team shared that it already has a playable version for the Nintendo console. They’re now polishing performance for optimization, and aiming for a 2027 release.

The same can’t be said for mobile players, however, as the developers revealed that they have no immediate plans to release the game on smart devices. They expounded that the series’ high-fidelity, dynamic combat, and open world may not be delivered well on a mobile device.
Five months since its release, Crimson Desert proves to be a commercial success. Rightly so, Pearl Abyss seems to be working hard to keep the momentum going by expanding the game through DLCs, a Switch 2 port, and a possible multiplayer mode.
