Genshin Impact developers miHoYo just announced that they’re shutting down their AI Companion Game BSide: Olivia Lin. The news comes just 28 days after the game’s Steam launch in China on July 13.
BSide: Olivia Lin has garnered more than a thousand reviews on Steam, earning an ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ rating. However, miHoYo stated in its notice that it’s ceasing operations in accordance with its ‘product roadmap and future plans.’
The devs also thanked the players who supported the title since its launch:
‘Although it has not been long since we began Early Access on July 13, 2026, we have met many of you who wished to get closer to Olivia Lin. The vinyl records we listened to together, the letters we wrote, and the melodies we uploaded are all memories that truly existed.’
MiHoYo will also give players a chance to give proper goodbyes to BSide: Olivia Lin. They announced that on August 27, an offline version of the game will be available, without the online features such as letter writing and MIDI reading.

Furthermore, the game will be officially pulled from Steam on August 31 alongside server shutdowns.
BSide: Olivia Lin is a realistic generative AI-powered ‘girlfriend sim’ game, where players can interact with a university student from Shanghai, China, named Lin Li. According to the lore, Lin is majoring in piano and minoring in Psychology, and she loves vinyl records, old movies, and rainy days.
One of its major features is MIDI reading, where players can upload their music files and listen to Lin’s live performances. Currently, the game is still available as a free Early Access title via Steam, though it’s restricted in select regions.
