SEGA has announced that its first flagship store in the Kansai region, SEGA STORE OSAKA, will open on Friday, October 2, 2026. The store will be located on the 6th floor of Shinsaibashi PARCO.
The new store is part of SEGA’s transmedia strategy, which expands its game IPs into other areas like film, music, and manga. SEGA STORE locations have been opening around the world since SEGA STORE SHANGHAI launched in Shanghai, China in May 2025. That was followed by SEGA STORE TOKYO in Shibuya, Japan’s first flagship store, which opened in July 2025. SEGA STORE OSAKA will now become the first permanent SEGA STORE in the Kansai region.
The store will bring together merchandise from IPs SEGA has built over more than 65 years, including items that will only be available in Osaka. SEGA says the goal is to give fans in Osaka, and around the world, a sense of surprise and excitement.

SEGA STORE OSAKA will sit inside POP CULTURE SHINSAIBASHI, the 6th floor of Shinsaibashi PARCO. Shinsaibashi PARCO is positioned as a cultural hub where fashion, art, and entertainment meet, and it aims to be a landmark of Shinsaibashi, which is known as one of western Japan’s leading international shopping destinations. The POP CULTURE SHINSAIBASHI floor is meant to be a space where visitors can experience Japanese pop culture firsthand.
Ahead of the store’s opening, SEGA is running a collaboration campaign called #SonicExperiencesOsaka, which starts on August 7. Through the campaign, Sonic will meet local Osaka characters and organizations as a way of experiencing Osaka’s culture before the store’s opening day. Sonic will team up with MOFLEM, the mascot of Gamba Osaka, during the team’s J1 League season opener against Urawa Red Diamonds at Panasonic Stadium Suita. Admission to this event requires a match ticket.

On August 8, Sonic will join Hachiemon, the mascot of Kansai TV, at the network’s headquarters to see how Osaka’s entertainment programs are produced. This event is not open to the public. On September 18, Sonic will join Takoru-kun, the mascot of TV Osaka, at the YATAI Fes food stall event in Osaka Castle Park’s Taiyo-no-Hiroba, where Sonic will try local Osaka food. Admission to this event is free.

The final scheduled event takes place on September 25. Sonic will appear in English SHINKIGEKI NIGHT ~ Sitcom ~, a Yoshimoto Kogyo comedy show performed entirely in English, at the Yoshimoto Dotonbori Theater. During the show, Sonic will take part in Osaka style comedy, including tsukkomi, a traditional comic retort style used in Japanese comedy. Admission to this event requires a ticket purchase. SEGA has noted that the schedule for the #SonicExperiencesOsaka campaign is tentative and may be subject to change
