Square Enix has officially released a free demo for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Microsoft Store, giving new players a chance to experience the acclaimed role-playing game before its full launch on those platforms on June 3, 2026.
The demo allows players to begin the adventure from the opening chapters and carry progress into the full version, making it an ideal starting point for those planning to pick up the game at launch.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Demo Includes Opening Chapters

According to Square Enix, the demo lets players experience the beginning of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth through the end of Chapter 2, titled A New Journey Begins. Players can freely explore the early world areas and revisit previous zones if they choose not to proceed immediately to the Mythril Mine.
This gives newcomers a strong preview of the game’s combat, exploration systems, character interactions, and large-scale world design.
Set after the events of Final Fantasy VII Remake, the story follows Cloud Strife and his allies after escaping Midgar as they journey into the wider world beyond the city walls.
Save Data Transfers to Full Game

One of the biggest benefits of the demo is that save progress can be transferred to the full release when it launches on Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Microsoft Store for PC.
Players with demo save data can also claim bonus in-game rewards, including the Kupo Charm and a Survival Set containing useful items.
Square Enix noted that if players create save data in the full game before importing demo progress, transfer functionality will no longer be available. However, the bonus items can still be redeemed regardless.
Achievements cannot be unlocked directly in the demo, but related achievements will automatically unlock once transferred progress is loaded into the full version.
Nintendo Switch 2 Demo Download Codes

Nintendo Switch 2 players in selected regions can redeem the demo through the Nintendo eShop using the following region-specific download codes:
