Iron Galaxy Studios has confirmed another round of layoffs as the studio continues to restructure in response to what it describes as long-term shifts in the video game industry. The decision comes as part of what the company calls a “new posture” aimed at adapting to current market conditions that it now views as permanent.
The announcement was shared through an official LinkedIn post from the studio, marking yet another period of workforce reduction following a similar round of layoffs in 2025.
A Studio Known for Support Work and High-Profile Ports

Founded in 2008 by Dave Lang, Iron Galaxy Studios initially built its reputation as a support and porting developer, helping bring major titles to new platforms. Over the years, the studio has contributed to a wide range of well-known projects, including PC and console ports for major franchises such as Batman: Arkham Asylum, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, and Fortnite.
More recently, Iron Galaxy Studios worked on PC versions of major PlayStation titles including The Last of Us Part I, The Last of Us Part II, and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection.
Alongside its support work, the studio has also developed original projects such as Rumbleverse and more recently Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, the latter of which received positive critical reception.
Internal Statement Points to Industry-Wide Changes

In its statement, Iron Galaxy Studios explained that the layoffs are part of a broader restructuring effort driven by shifts in how games are funded, developed, and consumed. The studio noted that the industry has undergone major changes since 2020, referencing the impact of the COVID-19 era and the long-term transformation it triggered across development pipelines and publishing strategies.
The company also highlighted that player habits have changed significantly, with audiences engaging with games in new ways. According to the studio, publishers are now applying different criteria when deciding which projects to support, which has affected multiple development partners, including Iron Galaxy Studios itself.
As a result, the studio stated that it can no longer sustain its previous team size and has made the difficult decision to reduce staff in order to align with current market realities.
Continued Downsizing After Previous Layoffs

This is not the first time Iron Galaxy Studios has reduced its workforce. In February 2025, the studio also carried out layoffs that affected dozens of employees following the shutdown of Rumbleverse. At that time, the studio described the decision as a last resort.
While the exact number of employees affected by the latest round has not been disclosed, the company confirmed that the restructuring is part of an ongoing effort to adjust its business model and operational scope.
Uncertain Future as Industry Pressures Continue

Iron Galaxy Studios emphasized that it has repeatedly adapted over its 18-year history, shifting focus between support work, porting, and original development. However, the studio acknowledged that the current market environment has created sustained challenges that require deeper structural changes.
With the industry continuing to evolve rapidly, Iron Galaxy Studios joins a growing list of developers navigating layoffs, restructuring, and changing publisher expectations.
For now, the studio’s future direction remains focused on stabilizing its operations while adapting to the ongoing transformation of the global games industry.
