Konami Digital Entertainment has announced a new remaster project for two of The Prince of Tennis romance adventure games: Sweet School Festival (often called “Gakupuri”) and Doki Doki Survival (known as “Dokisaba”). First launched on handheld consoles between 2005 and 2007, these titles became cult favorites for combining the franchise’s sports drama with dating-sim storytelling. Now, as part of the 20th anniversary of Gakupuri, Konami is bringing them to modern platforms.
Platforms and Updated Features

The remastered versions of Sweet School Festival and Doki Doki Survival will release on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and PC via Steam. Konami confirmed that both titles will keep their fully voiced scenarios and original romanceable characters, ensuring fans can relive the same stories. However, the remasters will also include newly illustrated static images. These additions aim to enhance dramatic moments while giving long-time players new visuals to enjoy. Importantly, players can freely switch between the classic artwork and the updated illustrations, balancing nostalgia with a fresh presentation.
A Look Back at Sweet School Festival

Originally released in December 2005, Sweet School Festival placed players in the shoes of an eighth-grade girl who joins the Student Festival Committee. Assigned to assist her school’s tennis club, she becomes involved in planning a festival where victory depends on each school’s booth. With only ten days before the event, players navigate encounters with familiar characters, forming bonds while trying to secure first prize. The game later saw a Nintendo DS port in 2010, but the upcoming remaster marks its first release on modern hardware.
Survival Adventures in Dokisaba

Following the success of Gakupuri, Konami launched Doki Doki Survival – Mountain Mystic in December 2006 and Doki Doki Survival – Seaside Secret in January 2007. The narrative dropped players and their tennis club companions on a deserted island after a storm stranded their boat. With only a few supplies and tools, survival depended on resource management, teamwork, and forming personal connections with fellow characters. A remastered version arrived on the Nintendo DS in 2011, but the upcoming project promises enhanced visuals and improved accessibility for a new audience.
Legacy of The Prince of Tennis Games
The Prince of Tennis franchise has expanded far beyond its manga roots, including anime adaptations, musicals, and a wide variety of video games. With these remasters, Konami is celebrating the franchise’s enduring popularity while introducing its unique blend of romance and sports storytelling to new generations. Fans can look forward to reliving their favorite moments or discovering them for the first time when the remasters officially launch.
