SEGA has announced that three new racers are joining the roster of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds through free updates and they’re coming from some very recognizable franchises. A reveal trailer has also dropped alongside the announcement, giving fans their first look at the three crossover racers and their Machines.
Red from Angry Birds, Goro Majima (appearing as Captain Majima) from the Like a Dragon / Yakuza series, and Arle from Puyo Puyo are all set to make their way into the game over the coming months. Each character will come with their own unique Machine themed around their respective games. Red will be bringing the Super Roaster, Captain Majima will be rolling in the Goromaru, and Arle will race in the Twinkle Bayoen.

Red and Captain Majima are scheduled to arrive in April 2026, while Arle’s racing debut is set for May 2026. SEGA says more details on each character are coming soon. On top of the character news, SEGA announced an update coming to the free demo starting March 19. Extreme Gear Machines will be added to the demo, giving players more to try out before buying the full game.
The demo is available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic Games. Players can use it to customize Machines, equip Gadgets, and jump into Grand Prix or Time Trial modes. Save data from the demo can also be carried over to the full game.

It’s worth noting that the March 19 demo update applies to the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic Games versions only while the Nintendo Switch demo will not receive this particular update. SEGA has confirmed that more DLC and updates for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds are still in the works, with further announcements expected down the line.
