SEGA has announced that the physical edition of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds for Nintendo Switch 2 will release on March 26, 2026. Pre-orders are now available in stores, with the Werehog Pack included as an early purchase bonus.
The Switch 2 version features enhanced graphics and a higher frame rate compared to previous versions. Players who already own the game on Nintendo Switch, Switch OLED, or Switch Lite can upgrade to the Switch 2 edition by purchasing the Upgrade Pack.

The digital version of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is currently available on Switch 2 for $69.99. The upgrade pack normally costs $9.99, but is discounted to $5.00 until December 11, 2025 at 11:59 PM PT. Players who purchase the upgrade can transfer their content and progress from Switch 1 to Switch 2. SEGA has also released new free DLC across all platforms. The Blue Star Extreme Gear is now available as a free download for all players.
The game lets players build and customize racing machines, unlock gadgets, and use power-ups in both offline and online modes. Cross-platform matchmaking in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds supports up to 12 racers competing together across different platforms which includes the Switch 2.

The character roster includes various Sonic series characters, with additional racers planned as free updates after launch. These upcoming additions include Joker, Kasuga Ichiban, and Hatsune Miku.
Available game modes include Grand Prix with multiple cups, World Match for ranked online battles, Friend Matches with custom settings, Time Trials, and Race Park for party-style racing. Local split-screen supports up to four players, while online matchmaking accommodates up to twelve. The game also features a Rival System that assigns rivals who interact with players throughout Grand Prix events.
