The Expanse: Osiris Reborn has entered its closed beta phase, with access now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Developer Owlcat Games confirmed that the beta will continue running until the game’s full launch in spring 2027.
Although labelled as a closed beta, the current phase functions more like an early access build. However, participation is restricted to players who purchase either the “Collector’s Edition” or “Miller’s Pack” through the game’s official website. As a result, access remains limited to dedicated early supporters.
A Story-Driven RPG Set in The Expanse Universe

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is a third-person action RPG set in the universe of The Expanse. The game focuses on narrative choice, companion relationships, and tactical combat systems.
Players take on the role of a Pinkwater Security mercenary who survives a catastrophic event on Eros. After that incident, they must assemble a team and confront the consequences of Protogen’s experiments. While the game shares its universe with the books and television series, it introduces an original storyline and new characters.
Importantly, Owlcat Games emphasises player-driven decision-making throughout the experience. Choices made during dialogue and exploration will influence how the story unfolds.
Closed Beta Offers Early Access to Core Systems and Story Content

In the closed beta, players can select between a female character from the Belt or a male character from Earth. In addition, they can specialise in either officer or hacker skill paths. A companion system is also included, featuring characters such as the protagonist’s sibling J and mechanic Zafar.
The beta begins on a space station controlled by Pinkwater Security. Here, players can interact with NPCs, explore dialogue options, and observe daily life within a mercenary-controlled environment. As the story progresses, combat sequences are introduced once hostile forces from the Eros incident begin to close in.
Furthermore, the beta provides early access to upgrade systems and combat mechanics. However, Owlcat Games noted that additional features, including a Mars-origin character background and expanded specialisations, will be included in the final release.
Access Details and Platform Availability

The closed beta is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Players must own either the “Collector’s Edition” or “Miller’s Pack” to participate.
To access the build, founders must log in to the official website, select their platform, and redeem a provided code. After that, the game can be downloaded through the chosen storefront.
Because the beta remains a work in progress, performance and content stability may vary. Therefore, Owlcat Games recommends using PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X for the most stable experience on console.
Development Continues Toward a 2027 Launch

Owlcat Games confirmed that feedback from the closed beta will directly influence the final version of The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. The studio plans to refine gameplay systems, balance combat mechanics, and expand narrative content before launch.
The full release is scheduled for spring 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG.
As development continues, the closed beta serves as an early look at one of the most ambitious adaptations of The Expanse universe to date.
