Publisher CubeGame and developer UP Software have released the official trailer for Sword and Fairy 4: Remake, showing off the updated visuals and gameplay of the upcoming single-player RPG. The game is being rebuilt using Unreal Engine 5, bringing modern graphics technology to the classic title. The new trailer gives players a look at how Unreal Engine 5 is being used to recreate the game’s world, characters, and combat system. No specific release date has been announced yet, but the trailer’s release suggests the game is moving closer to launch.

Sword and Fairy 4: Remake is a complete remake of the original Sword and Fairy 4 (also known as Chinese Paladin 4), which first launched in 2007. The Sword and Fairy series is one of China’s longest-running and most beloved RPG franchises, with the first game releasing back in 1995. The series draws heavily from Chinese mythology and folklore, featuring stories centered around immortals, spirits, and martial arts.
The original Sword and Fairy 4 was developed by Softstar Technology (Beijing) and became a commercial success in the Chinese gaming market. It told the story of multiple characters across different time periods, weaving together themes of love, sacrifice, and destiny. The game was praised for its storytelling and emotional narrative, though its dated graphics and gameplay systems showed their age over time.

This remake aims to introduce the game to both longtime fans and new players by updating the visuals, gameplay mechanics, and overall presentation while keeping the core story and characters intact. UP Software previously worked on Sword and Fairy 7, which released in 2021 and marked a significant technical leap for the series.
