Scarlet Nexus reveals setting details at BNE FUN LIVE

At the Bandai Namco Entertainment FUN LIVE, Scarlet Nexus director Kenji Anabuki and producer Keita Iizuka were present to showcase more setting details about the game. You can watch the presentation below:

Players will find themselves in the futuristic city of New Himuka, a time where the human brain is vastly more developed. They are under threat by an entity simply known as the Others, which prey on the deliciously developed human brains. Those gifted with strong psionic powers are the only ones who can take these creatures down.

You play as Yuito Sumeragi, who becomes part of the Other Suppression Force (OSF). They as a whole have earned the nickname of “Scarlet Guardians”, due to the scarlet glow they emit when using their powers. A young brain has direct correlation to psionic strength, so only those under sixteen may enlist to the OSF. New recruits are then given anti-aging drugs to maximise their career, so many of the veteran OSF members are older than they appear. New character info will be released in the future, with director and producer asking you to keep eye out for conflicting details due to the nature of the OSF.

They say one of their main inspirations has been Shotaro Ishinomori’s Cyborg 009, which features a team of cyborgs who are gifted with unique powers. They combined this with a common wish of people: having psychic abilities. The setting is futuristic, but with a touch of 90s anime, and a feeling of otherworldliness. As such, the Other keep to this otherwordly feeling, by blending both organic and non-organic elements.
