Pearl Abyss has pushed back the launch of its highly anticipated open-world action-adventure game Crimson Desert. Originally planned for late 2025, the title will now arrive between January and March 2026. The update came during the company’s Q2 2025 earnings conference call.
The Crimson Desert delay stems from ongoing work on console certification, voice-overs, and other final preparations. According to Pearl Abyss, extended timelines from partner coordination, including offline distribution, made the postponement unavoidable.
No Confirmed Release Date

As previously reported, Korean news outlet MTN said that Crimson Desert is set to launch globally on November 2, 2025. However, Pearl Abyss has since confirmed that the game is delayed to 2026 and they will announce the date “at a more appropriate time based on business considerations.”
Despite the delay, Crimson Desert will still appear at Gamescom and PAX West this August. In September, the studio will attend Tokyo Game Show to strengthen marketing efforts in Japan.
What Is Crimson Desert?

Announced in December 2020, Crimson Desert is Pearl Abyss’ first large-scale AAA console game. The studio, known for Black Desert Online, is setting this adventure in the war-torn fantasy world of Pywel.
Players follow Kliff, the leader of a scattered mercenary group. His journey spans vast landscapes as he seeks lost allies, takes on dangerous missions, and fights against powerful foes. Along the way, recruiting mercenaries can tip the odds in battle.
The game promises an expansive open world, dynamic combat, and deep gameplay systems.
A Strategic Delay

Pearl Abyss called the extra development time a strategic move to ensure the launch meets expectations and delivers “on a meaningful scale.”
When it finally arrives in Q1 2026, Crimson Desert will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
