The recent State of Play revealed that the popular Japanese dark fantasy franchise, The Eminence in Shadow, is going roguelite after a string of anime series, manga, etc.NIS America showed a brief look at The Eminence in Shadow: Phantom Echoes, which is set to release in 2027 on Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, and PC.
During the State of Play reveal, fans got a first look at the game’s combat, where Alpha took centre stage. Her stylish barrage of sword attacks was showcased along with the game’s Awakening system, which serves as its upgrade and enhancement mechanic during a run.
The 3D action roguelute will also feature randomly enhanced abilities during a run, allowing players to experiment with different builds across multiple playthroughs. Enemies aren’t something to take lightly as well,
As an action roguelite, Phantom Echoes will feature randomly enhanced abilities that allow players to create different builds across playthroughs. The trailer also showed how challenging enemies can be, as they also featured special attacks that could prove troublesome for players.

After Alpha’s narration and combat, the trailer shifted to a more sinister theme, showing a wounded and bound Delta. Alpha then faced off against Shadow before cutting to a title card, leaving fans wanting more.
The Eminence in Shadow: Phantom Echoes marks the first console game for the franchise after Master of Garden on mobile and PC. With its alluring combination of slick combat, rogeuelite mechanics, and characters fans of the franchise have grown accustomed to, it could offer a fresh way to experience the world of The Eminence in Shadow.

If the targeted window is met, fans of the franchise will have a good 2027, as it’s also the release of the upcoming The Eminence in Shadow: Lost Echoes movie.
