The upcoming NieR-inspired action RPG Mahou Arms has been delayed, with developer Dischan Media pushing its full 1.0 release from April 27, 2026, to July 27, 2026. The game is still set to launch on PC via Steam, but the additional three-month delay will allow the team to refine balance, fix lingering issues, and expand certain content ahead of release.
Development Team Cites Balance Issues and Final Polish

According to Dischan Media, Mahou Arms is already fully playable from start to finish and is considered content-complete. However, recent internal testing revealed areas that require further refinement before launch.
While the game could have released in April in a “solid” state, the developer stated that additional time will help improve overall gameplay feel and stability, particularly in progression systems and combat pacing.
Progression System Overhaul Requires Extra Time

One of the key areas being adjusted is the game’s progression balance. A newly implemented leveling and skill point system has significantly changed how players grow stronger over time, but it has also introduced unintended issues.
Early-game sections are currently more difficult due to weaker starting stats, while certain enemy encounters feel inconsistent depending on progression timing. These balance concerns are now being addressed to ensure a smoother difficulty curve throughout the experience.
Bug Fixes and Stability Improvements Planned

Alongside balancing work, Dischan Media is also using the delay to address several lingering bugs. While many of these issues are rare, the developer noted that even a single progression-blocking bug can severely impact a single-player action RPG experience.
As a result, the team is prioritising stability improvements to ensure players can progress without disruption at launch.
Additional Content Planned for Version 1.0

Interestingly, the delay is not only focused on fixes. The developer has also confirmed plans to expand the 1.0 release with additional content that was previously considered optional.
This includes new voice acting, additional cutscenes, and new enemy types. The team has also teased an extra feature that is unrelated to gameplay, though details have not yet been revealed.
A Long-Running Early Access Journey

Mahou Arms is a character-action hack-and-slash inspired by titles such as NieR, placing players in control of magical girl operatives from the GARDA organisation as they battle an alien threat known as the Locks.
The game has spent several years in early access, gradually expanding its story content, playable characters, and side activities as development has progressed.
Following the delay, early access bonuses will remain available until the new July release window. The developer has also confirmed ongoing post-launch support beyond version 1.0.
Final Update Coming Soon

Dischan Media has stated that a final development update will be shared within the next few weeks, offering a closer look at the new additions being implemented before launch.
For now, Mahou Arms remains scheduled to release on July 27, 2026, on PC via Steam.
