Gundam fans in Malaysia now have their own dedicated flagship store to visit, as THE GUNDAM BASE Malaysia officially opens its doors on April 14, 2026, at fahrenheit88 mall in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur. The store is brought to Malaysia by Bandai Namco Asia and local distributor Litt Tak Sdn. Bhd., and is the first of its kind in the country. THE GUNDAM BASE is recognized globally as the official home of Gundam and Gunpla (Gundam plastic model kits), and the Malaysian location is set up as a full retail and community experience rather than just a regular hobby shop.
Visitors walking into the store will be greeted by a 1.8-metre RX-78-2 Gundam statue decked out in the exclusive GUNDAM BASE colours. There is also a photo booth featuring a blueprint-style backdrop of the iconic mobile suit, giving fans a spot to take pictures. The store carries Gunpla kits across a wide range of grades, from Entry Grade (EG) for beginners all the way up to Perfect Grade (PG) for more experienced builders. Alongside the regular lineup, the store is also stocking exclusive and limited-edition items.
To mark the opening, four models are being released in Malaysia for the first time, all exclusively available at THE GUNDAM BASE Malaysia:
- MG 1/100 THE GUNDAM BASE LIMITED RX-78-2 GUNDAM Ver.3.0 [THE GUNDAM BASE COLOR] at MYR 225
- MG 1/100 THE GUNDAM BASE LIMITED GUNDAM BARBATOS (CLEAR COLOR) at MYR 203
- MG 1/100 THE GUNDAM BASE LIMITED DESTINY GUNDAM (HEINE WESTENFLUSS CUSTOM) at MYR 293
- RG 1/144 THE GUNDAM BASE LIMITED BURNING GUNDAM HYPER MODE at MYR 675
Starting April 20, the store will be running daily hands-on model building workshops. The store notes that timings are subject to change and advises fans to check their social media for updates.
Litt Tak Executive Director Mr. Tan Ee Chian described the store as a space for both long-time collectors and newcomers, saying it gives fans access to authentic products and a place to connect with fellow enthusiasts. fahrenheit88 CEO Dato’ Joyce Yap also welcomed the addition, noting that the store brings a new pop culture experience to the Bukit Bintang area for both local and international visitors.
