Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed that the $100 (RM419) Ultimate Edition of GTA VI is outselling its standard counterpart that costs $80 (RM339) in pre-orders.
The pricing of the much-anticipated Rockstar game has been heavily debated in the gaming community, with many players stating that it’s too steep, even for its stature.

However, in a recent interview, Zelnick stated, ‘It is skewing more to the Premium Edition, but that might be a reflection, again, of the fact that the most avid consumers are the ones who are pre-ordering,’ when asked which version players are leaning towards.
‘Our job, though, as we see it, is to always deliver way more value to the consumer than what we charge, and we want to do that over, and over, and over again,’ the CEO also stated.
Zelnick was also asked whether the price of GTA VI can go down during the upcoming holiday season, to which he replied that it depends on the retailers. If they reduce the price, they’re obviously reducing their margin on the sale,’ he added.

Aside from the digital codes, the inclusions of Grand Theft Auto VI’s Ultimate Edition include a variety of custom vehicles, personalized weapons, unique cosmetics, and exclusive single-player content. According to Rockstar, these bonuses will be uncovered behind each chapter of the protagonists’ stories, working like rewards as players progress through the campaign.
Whether the additional exclusive content is worth the extra money remains to be seen. However, with GTA VI still being months away from its highly anticipated release, the pre-order performance suggests that its price point is now proving less controversial than expected, with most of the pre-orders coming from the pricier variant.
