Previously, we reported that Hasnul Hadi had started work as the head of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) Worldwide Studios Malaysia Branch. After some silence from the studio, we now know a few more of the people involved with the Malaysian branch of Playstation’s first-party studios.
In the tweet commemorating the first week of being back to work in the new year, he introduces Daniel, who works in the studio’s IT department, as well as Sueki, the head of Human Resources and Illy, the studio’s recruiter.
Earlier, he also mentioned that this would be the team’s first week as well. While the studio hasn’t announced any big projects yet, it’s clear that they’ll be working on something soon.
In a reply, Hasnul Hadi expressed confidence in the Malaysian team, saying the studio would be “here to say”. He acknowledged that being a Malaysian working with a big brand like PlayStation without leaving the country is a popular dream job, and said the studio’s existence would be key to that.
“That’s the goal – creating a path for those in the region. We’re here to stay”, he says.
We’d also previously reported that the studio was looking for more talent, looking for Production Heads and Technical Artists. Considering those positions are still open, it’s a good bet that the studio isn’t quite done growing just yet.
