The latest addition to the Grisaia series is Grisaia Barcarolle, a browser-based game available through DMM Games.

Yuuji Kazami, protagonist of Grisaia no Kajitsu, is playing the VRMMO game, “Pandora”, as part of a rehabilitation process following his triumph over Heath Oslo. Pandora is the first “all-sensory” VRMMO game in Japan, with a very simple story of an interstellar ship known as the Ark landing on a foreign planet, with “the Spears” tasked to fight monsters. However, things aren’t so clear cut, with a conspiracy that threatens the peace. “Pandora’s box” has been opened…

Grisaia Barcarolle is a real-time battle game, with the preview screenshots reminiscent of similar titles such as Princess Connect. The requirements to run the game are merely Windows OS 8.1 / 10 or macOS 10.15 or later, with Google Chrome being the recommended browser.

It’s likely the game will get a mobile app in the future, which isn’t an unusual occurrence (see: Kamigoroshi no Aria). At first glance, the game looks a bit more light-hearted than what the series is known for, but things will probably escalate quite quickly.

One of the Grisaia‘s series ventures outside of their usual visual novel games, Grisaia Chronos Rebellion, was unfortunately short-lived, having shut down 31 August 2021. However, its official Twitter bio states that Chronos Rebellion is getting a PC version, so that story can live on yet.
