Blizzard Entertainment has officially announced the return of its flagship fan convention, BlizzCon, scheduled for September 12-13, 2026, at the Anaheim Convention Center. The popular gaming event, last held in November 2023, was absent in 2024 as Activision Blizzard focused on integration efforts following Microsoft’s $69 billion acquisition, which closed in October 2023. According to the announcement, Blizzard will also skip hosting the convention this year before its planned return in 2026.

“BlizzCon is back! The ultimate celebration of our games and the community that unites us is returning to the Anaheim Convention Center,” Blizzard stated in their official blog post.
Blizzard president Johanna Faries is expected to provide more details about BlizzCon’s comeback during her panel at SXSW later Tuesday, moderated by Conan O’Brien. The company emphasized that the two-day event will feature traditional BlizzCon elements including an Opening Ceremony, in-depth panels, the Darkmoon Faire, competitions, and hands-on gameplay opportunities. Their announcement highlighted plans to “meaningfully elevate this iconic celebration” for attendees.
“We are building this event just like we build our games: with a deep commitment to our players, with respect for your connections to our universes, and as a celebration of the strength of the bonds formed through shared adventure,” the company noted.
BlizzCon has been a staple for Blizzard fans since its inception in 2005, serving as a platform for major game announcements and community engagement. Fans interested in attending can sign up for updates at BlizzCon.com to receive information about ticket sales and event news.
