NEOWIZ will modify certain costume assets exclusively for the Korean version of BrownDust2 starting on the 30th. The changes affect three items in total: the cutscenes for the Nightmare Palette and Retired Legend OliviĂŠ costumes, along with the presentation and imagery tied to the Retired Legend OliviĂŠ secret event. With this move, South Korea becomes the second region to run on a separate build, following Germany.
During a broadcast on the 28th, PD Lee Jun-hee explained that the changes were made to comply with Korean laws and rating guidelines, calling it a necessary step to keep the game running in the country. Lee said the team looked into other options first, including releasing the original version through app stores outside of Google and Apple. However, since the requirement comes from Korean law, the studio said it had no choice but to apply the changes across all services offered in Korea.

Lee added that without making these changes, the game would not have been able to continue service in Korea at all. The team decided that keeping the service running with a modified build was a better outcome for players than ending it completely.
Lee pointed to three specific rating criteria that led to the changes. These include direct depictions of certain body parts, related bodily fluids, and excessive depictions that let users directly trigger suggestive acts through interaction. He said future content will be made with these standards in mind as much as possible, noting that having to revise content again after release would be a worse outcome.
The broadcast also touched on risks tied to Google and Apple’s app store policies. Lee said the game has already collected a number of warnings from both companies. Nothing has been finalized on that front, but he noted that Google and Apple tend to apply even stricter standards than Korea’s own rating guidelines, so the studio is keeping an eye on the situation.
As compensation, all players will receive 4,000 free Diamonds, regardless of whether they own the affected costumes. Players who own the modified costumes will get an additional 2,000 free Diamonds per costume. Those who choose to request a refund instead will receive 13,400 free Diamonds per costume, along with the resources spent on enhancing them. More details on the process are expected through an official notice.
