Konami Digital Entertainment announced a wave of updates for eFootball at the eFootball World Festival in Bangkok, Thailand, ranging from new Legend players to gameplay features and esports results, as part of its ongoing push to grow the game’s presence across Asia.
During the eFootball CONNECT stream at the event, Konami confirmed that former Manchester City and Argentina striker Sergio Agüero will join the game as a new Legend. Agüero arrives as part of the Epic: Legends Assemble Special and comes equipped with the Blitz Curve and Low Screamer skills. Players can obtain him for free by logging into the game during the eFootball World Festival Campaign, where he is one of eleven Legends available as rewards. Returning Legend Wayne Rooney also gets an update, gaining two new skills, Phenomenal Finish and Willpower, along with a boost of plus three to his shooting stat. A special in-game event will give players the chance to choose and claim one of the eleven available Legends.
Konami also launched Treasure Link, a bingo style achievement system that lets players earn and share personalized rewards in Special, Rare, and Normal variants by playing online matches. Some rewards will be limited to select players and those attending the World Festival.
Looking ahead, Konami detailed a bigger update coming in August. It will introduce a Custom Tournament mode, letting players host or join tournaments with customizable rules. A new team style called Overload will also be added, encouraging players to keep a compact shape on the ball side to gain a numbers advantage, helping with possession in attack and quicker pressing on defense. Players will additionally be able to set separate formations for attacking and defending for more tactical flexibility, and managers with two Link-Ups will begin appearing at the start of the new season.
Alongside the announcements, the World Festival also hosted the eFootball Championship 2026 World Finals, the game’s official esports world tournament. The event brought together 32 competitors, split evenly between 16 players in the Console Division and 16 in the Mobile Division, all of whom qualified through earlier online rounds. To celebrate hosting the event in Bangkok, Konami announced a few additions aimed at Thai fans, including the upcoming addition of Thai football legend Piyapong Piew-on to the game and the introduction of Thai language commentary.
Speaking at the event, eFootball General Producer Junichi Taya said Konami plans to keep expanding its offerings for the region, adding that the company wants more football fans in Thailand to enjoy eFootball. With new Legends, fresh gameplay features, and a growing esports scene, the Bangkok event highlighted Konami’s efforts to keep building the game’s community across Asia and beyond.
