Santa Monica Studio has announced that God of War Laufey will launch on the PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027. The upcoming title shifts focus away from series lead Kratos and instead centers on Laufey, also known as Faye, his wife and a warrior in her own right.

According to an official overview, the story begins after Faye’s death, when she unexpectedly wakes up in a strange land. There, she learns that the plans she made to protect Kratos and Atreus while she was gone are now in danger. To keep her family safe, Faye must make her way through the Everywhen, described as the afterlife of the gods, a place where powerful deities from different mythologies fight for control amid dangerous magic. Players will take on the role of Faye, using her speed and precision to take down enemies throughout this new setting.
Separately, during the God of War Laufey panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, Santa Monica Studio head of creative Cory Barlog announced that another God of War game is also in the works. This next title will follow Kratos and is set to release after Laufey, with a story that connects directly to hers. With a release date now set and another chapter of the franchise already confirmed to follow, fans have plenty to look forward to as God of War Laufey approaches its February 2027 launch.
