HoYoverse has announced that Honkai: Nexus Anima, the latest game in the Honkai series, will be holding its next closed beta test  called the Evolution Test starting July 9 on PC, iOS, and Android. Registration is now open through the game’s official website, where players can fill out a recruitment survey for a chance to be selected. The Evolution Test will bring expanded gameplay and story content to the game, including new characters, Anima, regions, and gameplay systems.

Honkai: Nexus Anima is a creature-collecting adventure strategy game built around the idea of bonds. In the game’s world, the “Nexus” refers to the invisible connections linking paired concepts like Love and Hate, Light and Dark, and Reality and Illusion. After an event called the Sundering broke these connections, the energy left behind scattered across the world as creatures known as Anima. Players take on the role of a traveler who forms bonds with these Anima and taps into their powers, which can be used both in battle and during exploration of the open world.

In the Evolution Test specifically, the player’s journey begins in Iia, a quiet town in the Reality Plane, after escaping captivity. From there, the story opens up across multiple Planes, each with its own locations, stories, and characters to discover. The Evolution Test is a free, limited closed beta with a data wipe, meaning progress made during the test will not carry over. A selected number of players who pre-register and complete the recruitment survey will be given access. More details about the test are expected to be shared through future announcements.
