The Digimon franchise has reached its highest profit level since the anime series first began airing in 2000, according to Bandai Namco Entertainment president Nao Udagawa. She shared the update in an interview featured in the combined issue of Weekly Famitsu, which was released on August 6. The interview was later detailed by the gaming outlet GamesTalk.
Udagawa said the strong performance of both digital games and card games played a role in the brand’s record profits. She pointed to the success of Digimon Story: Time Stranger as one example of the franchise’s growth. Exact profit figures and the time period used to measure this growth were not shared during the interview. It also was not made clear whether the numbers apply only to Bandai Namco’s own earnings or include other parts of the brand the company may not directly profit from.

Digimon Story: Time Stranger shipped over 1 million units worldwide, a number that includes digital downloads, within about two months of its October 2025 release. This made it the fastest-selling entry in the Digimon Story series to reach that milestone. Udagawa also brought up the Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch versions of the game, which came out on July 9, 2026, along with a larger downloadable content pack planned for 2027. According to her, these releases show that the game still has room to grow further.
The interview did not go into detail about exact earnings or how this period compares to past years when Digimon had different licensing partners. Even so, the update marks a notable point in the franchise’s history within Bandai Namco.
