Team Ninja is returning to the Three Kingdoms with a sequel to its 2023 action RPG. Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember was revealed at the 2026 Xbox Games Showcase, with a launch window set for early 2027. The original Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty released in 2023 and drew comparisons to Team Ninja’s Nioh series, offering a soulslike experience set in a demon-filled version of ancient China.
According to the game’s official description, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty has now surpassed 5 million players worldwide. The sequel picks up in the same setting, asking players to “master the evolved Chinese martial arts and conquer battlefields of the Three Kingdoms overrun by monstrous demons alongside renowned heroes who left their mark on history.”
Announced at the #XBOXShowcase, Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember is set to release in early 2027 on the Microsoft Store, XBOX Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Steam, Nintendo Switch 2, and will be available Day One with Game Pass on console and PC.https://t.co/kFJcl7BUAG#WoLong2 pic.twitter.com/26F5DWhfFS

The reveal trailer showed off large-scale battles that were not a feature in the original game, alongside the fast-paced action combat that Team Ninja has become known for across its titles. The reveal trailer ran just under a minute and a half, and was made up mostly of cinematic footage, with in-game segments limited to only a few brief sections. Despite that, some gameplay details were still visible. The trailer also introduces a new Phoenix ability, though its exact mechanics have not been explained yet.
Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember is set to launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
