Ecco the Dolphin: Complete has been officially announced by A&R Atelier. The upcoming collection will include remastered versions of Ecco the Dolphin and Ecco: The Tides of Time, alongside a completely new Ecco title designed to extend the series into the modern era. However, the developer has not yet confirmed platforms or a release date.
The announcement marks a major return for one of gaming’s most distinctive action-adventure franchises. Importantly, the project reunites key members of the original development team after more than three decades.
A Definitive Collection Spanning the Entire History of Ecco the Dolphin

According to A&R Atelier, Ecco the Dolphin: Complete aims to deliver the most comprehensive version of the franchise ever released. The collection brings together multiple versions of the original games across different hardware generations, starting from the Sega Master System era and continuing through the Sega Genesis and Sega Mega Drive generation.
In addition to preserving the original titles, the package introduces a new contemporary entry that connects the classic storyline with a modern continuation. As a result, the collection positions itself as both a historical archive and a forward-looking revival of the series.
Furthermore, the developers describe the release as a remaster created by the same creative voices behind the original games, rather than an external reinterpretation.
Original Creator Ed Annunziata Returns to the Series

One of the most significant aspects of the announcement is the return of Ed Annunziata, the original creator of Ecco the Dolphin. He joins several members of the original programming, composition, and art teams who helped shape the franchise in the early 1990s.
Because of this reunion, A&R Atelier emphasises that Ecco the Dolphin: Complete represents an authentic continuation of the series’ creative vision. The team aims to preserve the atmosphere, music, and mystery that defined the original releases while expanding the experience for modern audiences.
This approach also distinguishes the collection from typical remaster projects handled by external studios.
A Brand-New Ecco Game Expands the Story for Modern Players

In addition to the classic titles, Ecco the Dolphin: Complete will include a newly developed entry designed specifically for modern platforms. While the developer has not revealed gameplay details yet, the new game is intended to connect the franchise’s past with its future.
Importantly, this new chapter will not replace the original experiences. Instead, it will complement them and extend the narrative across generations of players.
As a result, both long-time fans and newcomers will have the opportunity to explore the full timeline of the Ecco universe within a single package.
Features Designed for Speedrunners, Creators, and the Community

Beyond remastered content and a new title, Ecco the Dolphin: Complete introduces several modern features aimed at today’s player communities. These include built-in speedrunning support, achievements, and global leaderboards that track performance across the collection.
In addition, the game will feature meta quests that span both the classic titles and the new entry. These challenges connect the different eras of the franchise into a unified progression system.
The collection will also include custom course tools that allow players to create and share their own routes using levels from across the series. Consequently, streamers and creators can design unique experiences that highlight different parts of the franchise.
Earth Day Preview Access Event Announced
Alongside the announcement, A&R Atelier confirmed that players can participate in an Earth Day-themed preview initiative through the official Ecco the Dolphin website. This event offers early access opportunities, preview content, and direct engagement with the development team.
Because the project is still in development, the studio describes the website as the primary source for updates and community participation moving forward.
More information about supported platforms and a release window for Ecco the Dolphin: Complete is expected at a later date.
