Steam has kicked off its Horse Fest sale, running now through February 23rd at 10 a.m. Pacific time. The event puts the spotlight on horse games and anything in the same neighborhood, with discounts on hundreds of games and DLC, some going as high as 90% off.
The sale casts a pretty wide net when it comes to what counts as a “horse game.” Unicorns, donkeys, and everything in between are fair game. Players can find titles that let them raise horses, race them, manage stables, or just ride through open landscapes. If it has hooves, there’s a good chance it’s in the fest.
Pocket Stables, a horse racing and ranch simulator from Kairosoft — the studio behind Game Dev Story and Dungeon Village — is currently sitting at its all-time lowest price of $4.76. It carries the same charming sim style fans of the developer are familiar with.
Rival Stars Horse Racing: Desktop Edition is another option for players who want a more detailed stable management experience. The game lets players take over a struggling ranch and work their way up through breeding, raising, and racing horses, with open landscapes to explore and various race types to compete in.
On the stranger end of the spectrum is The Pony Factory, also at its lowest-ever price of $2.19. The horror game follows a character named Winston who makes a deal with the Devil to save his town by turning its inhabitants into magical ponies — a plan that, predictably, goes sideways and results in monstrous horse-like creatures for the player to deal with. Demos are also available alongside the discounts during the event.
