Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of Final Fantasy 7 Remake has clarified his recent comments about Part 3 being “more concise” than Rebirth. He reassured fans that the upcoming game will not lose any story content despite the change in pacing.
Clearing Up the Misunderstanding

Earlier this month, Hamaguchi mentioned that Part 3 would feel “more concise” than Rebirth. However, some fans quickly assumed this meant the final entry would include less content or a shorter story.
In a follow-up interview with VGC, Hamaguchi explained that his words were misunderstood. Instead of referring to the game’s size or scope, “concise” described how smoothly the story flows from one scene to the next.
“The original question was about players who felt that Rebirth added new story content that made the story feel stretched,” Hamaguchi said. “They asked if we would address that in the third game.”
Focusing on Better Pacing

Hamaguchi emphasized that he remains satisfied with Rebirth’s pacing and structure. Nevertheless, he acknowledged that feedback from players has been valuable.
“I feel that the pacing, the content, and the balance in Rebirth are exactly as I wanted,” he explained. “It doesn’t feel unnecessarily long.”
Even so, Hamaguchi recognized that some players saw things differently. Therefore, the development team intends to refine Part 3’s pacing to ensure smoother story progression and better immersion throughout the journey.
“It’s about making sure the pacing feels right,” Hamaguchi said. “We’re not cutting content — we’re refining the story’s rhythm so it moves forward at a satisfying pace.”
Looking Ahead to Part 3

Meanwhile, Hamaguchi confirmed that development for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 is progressing well. Furthermore, he expressed confidence in how the project is shaping up and hinted that updates will arrive “in the not-too-distant future.”
As the final chapter of the Remake trilogy, Part 3 will bring the story to its climactic moments. With Hamaguchi’s reassurance, fans can look forward to a finale that maintains the rich storytelling of Final Fantasy 7 while offering a more focused and engaging experience.
