Duet Night Abyss is a game that puts player choice at the center of its reward systems. Unlike many games where you depend on random chance to get the characters and weapons you want, Duet Night Abyss offers a more direct approach through its Covert Commissions feature.
Covert Commissions let players farm for specific characters, weapons, and demon wedges without relying on luck. Instead of hoping for random drops, you can work toward the exact content you want. This system is built around player agency, giving you control over your progression. The game also includes the Secret Letter Clue system, which was designed to address concerns about unreliable drop rates.

How to Unlock Covert Commissions
You’ll unlock Covert Commissions after completing the side quest “Go, Geniemons!” Once unlocked, you can access Covert Commissions from the Combat menu anytime. The Covert Commission Shop will also become available in the Shop menu.
Standard Commissions and Bounty Commissions give fixed rewards. Covert Commissions work differently—besides coins and enemy drops, you can customize your possible rewards using Secret Letters.

Secret Letters: Choose Your Rewards
Secret Letters are items you buy from the Covert Commission Shop. Each Secret Letter corresponds to a specific character, weapon, or demon wedge. When you select a Secret Letter before starting a Covert Commission, you get a chance to earn shards or blueprints for that item. For example, buying and selecting “Secret Letter: Berenica” gives you the chance to obtain Berenica shards when you complete the commission.

Each Secret Letter has six possible rewards across three rarity levels. The highest rarity reward is the shards or blueprint you’re targeting. The other rewards are upgrade materials for that specific character, weapon, or demon wedge. After completing a Covert Commission, you’ll see three random options from the Secret Letter’s reward pool. You can pick one reward to claim.
Like other Commissions in the game, Covert Commissions don’t require any items or currency to start. You can run them as often as you want with no restrictions. Commissions also scale with difficulty levels. Higher difficulties feature stronger or different enemies, giving you options based on your current power level.
