The Pokémon Company recently shared some interesting news about how their sleep-tracking game, Pokemon Sleep is actually helping people rest better. At a special event in Tokyo celebrating Pokémon Sleep’s second anniversary, the company revealed that Japanese players are now sleeping longer than before.
According to Takato Utsunomiya, who leads The Pokémon Company, the game has been downloaded more than 28 million times and has tracked over 1 billion sleep sessions since it launched. The company looked at sleep data from seven countries including Germany, the UK, France, Canada, America, Italy, and Japan to see how players’ sleep habits have changed.
The results show that Japanese players have made real progress with their sleep. Between 2023 and 2024, Japanese Pokémon Sleep users averaged 6 hours and 38 minutes of sleep per night. But between 2024 and 2025, that number jumped to 7 hours and 10 minutes – that’s an extra 32 minutes of sleep each night.
Utsunomiya said he’s happy to see that the game is having a positive effect on players’ lives by making good sleep habits more enjoyable. The company plans to use all the sleep data they’ve collected to find new ways to help people sleep better.

The timing of this announcement was perfect, as Pokémon Sleep also earned a Guinness World Record for being the most downloaded sleep game app. To celebrate the second anniversary, the game is running a special event that adds new Pokémon like Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip, plus gives players 150 bonus Sleep Points every day. Popular Pokémon from last year’s anniversary event – Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly – will also show up more often during sleep sessions.
