Guinness Recognition for Pokémon Sleep
The official certification was presented during the “FUN SLEEP FEST: Wake Up with Excitement” anniversary event in Tokyo on July 16, 2025, commemorating the game’s second year since launch. Present at the ceremony was Guinness World Records, who awarded the title to The Pokémon Company for the app’s impressive milestone.
Takato Utsunomiya, COO of The Pokémon Company, received the certificate on stage and shared his gratitude during the event according to Japan Anime News:
“We are truly pleased that so many people around the world are enjoying Pokémon Sleep while monitoring their sleep habits. We will continue striving to turn sleep into an enjoyable part of people’s lives.”
Gamifying Sleep With Pokémon

Launched in 2023, Pokémon Sleep is a mobile app that blends sleep tracking with light gamification. Players place their smartphones near their pillows while sleeping, and the app analyzes sleep data to summon different Pokémon based on sleep patterns. Users can then collect these Pokémon in various sleep poses.
The app’s innovative concept of turning rest into a rewarding gameplay experience has resonated with millions of users globally, culminating in this Guinness World Record recognition.
A Star-Studded Anniversary Event
The Tokyo event also featured celebrity guests, including Hayato Sano (M!LK), Mirai Shida, and comedian Hiccorohee, who participated in themed challenges celebrating the app’s unique features. Returning from last year’s celebration was Ryogo Matsumaru, serving once again as judge for the “Three Sleep Challenges.”
The anniversary celebration highlighted the app’s growing popularity and its positive influence on users’ morning routines.
Pokémon Sleep continues to expand its impact by blending health-focused technology with one of the world’s most beloved franchises. With a Guinness World Record now under its belt, the app is waking up to even greater heights.
